An earthquake of magnitude 6.6 struck the southern Argentine province of Neuquen during the early hours today, the German Research Centre for Geosciences said. The quake was at a depth of 161 km and the epicenter was at Neuquen. The eastern province of Neuquen is close to the Pacific Ocean and its notorious Ring of Fire. The earthquake was also felt in the central and southern parts of neighbouring Chile. Neither Argentine nor Chilean authorities reported any damages.
