Twitter Faces Mass Exodus
Interest among users in deleting their Twitter accounts has surged following Elon Musk's announcement of temporary daily limits on the number of posts each user can view. Musk implemented these limits to address data scraping and system manipulation, which have faced user backlash. Online interest in deleting Twitter accounts surged after the announcement, with searches for "Delete Twitter account" and "How to delete Twitter account" increasing significantly. Twitter is predicted to lose nearly 4% of its users in 2023 and 5% in 2024, amounting to over 32 million users leaving the platform. The decline is attributed to technical issues, the proliferation of hateful content, and user frustration. Celebrities and prominent figures have already abandoned the platform, as Meta Platforms, is launching its text-based rival to Twitter called Threads.
