Russia’s security service has claimed that its forces prevented the assassination of the Moscow-backed head of Crimea. The FSB says it detained a Russian allegedly hired and trained by Ukraine to kill Sergey Aksyonov, Kremlin’s representative in Crimea since 2014. The report comes as Ukraine claims it has recaptured 37.4 square km of territory from Russian forces in the past week. Meanwhile, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) has said the Russian President may have to choose between his own defence ministry or ultranationalist military bloggers.
