Colder palaces, £1m on helicopters: Royal finances revealed
  • 10 months ago
The heating has been turned down at Buckingham Palace and other royal homes to cut emissions, royal accounts have shown. Guests, staff and the royal family were living with temperatures set at 19C during the winter and a few degrees lower when rooms were empty. Charles spoke extensively before becoming King about the importance of the environment, tackling climate change and protecting wildlife. Sovereign Grant accounts show Charles has begun his reign with royal expenditure, funded by the taxpayer, rising for the second year running. The figure for net expenditure increased by £5.1 million to £107.5 million for 2022/23. The Sovereign Grant remained unchanged at £86.3 million during 2022/23. Report by Jonesia.
