This funny video shows a dog climbing the stairs by hopping up on all fours -- like a rabbit.

Bo, an American pit bull terrier, knows no other way of climbing up the stairs than hopping up with all four legs at the same time in a bizarre, but charming move.

Owner Sylvia Baber, 44, who adopted Bo in Autumn 2021, was amazed at the unique approach Bo took to climbing the stairs.

Sylvia, a grant writer for PBS, said: "It was five days before I got him to even go outside.

"When I finally got him to go outside we went for a walk and he did this on the way back. This was his big surprise."

Bo, who is now nine, was taken in by Sylvia after his two previous owners died.

Sylvia, from Lexington, Kentucky, USA, said: "I wanted to foster dogs during the pandemic, but I just fell in love with Bo."

"He had serious behaviour and emotional issues but I think I was the only person who was a right fit for him.

"He came to me after his owner died. His first and second owners had both died. He was in mourning.

"For him that was what happened. He would stay with someone for a while and then they would disappear."

When Sylvia first had Bo, he wouldn't move and was distraught by the death of his owner.

She said: "He was just scared of everything. I had to put pee pads down all over the house."

Now Bo is thriving. He loves to play, cuddles and go on walks.

Bo's unique way of climbing the stairs first worried Sylvia, who thought that it may be due to joint issues.

But after consulting a vet, it was confirmed that it was nothing of concern.

She said: "I took him to lots of vets when I first got him but there's nothing wrong with him. This is just his Bo way of doing things."

Bo's unusual move has charmed audiences on social media with one of Sylvia's videos reaching more than 700,000 likes.
