00:26 [announcer] Round one.
00:28 So round one of this Super World to Weigh contest.
00:32 It's a six round up.
00:34 Sam Gilley, who we know,
00:36 boxed on Sky Sports a couple of times in the white and purple.
00:39 And Ellis Corrie from Darlington, he's in the black and gold.
00:43 And Matt, we've seen Sam before.
00:53 We know what he's about. We haven't seen Ellis Corrie before.
00:57 But he was fired up for this one during the week.
01:00 Because over six rounds, anything could happen.
01:02 Sam Gilley's boxed at a higher level.
01:04 He's keeping busy over six.
01:06 And those sort of contests are laced with danger.
01:08 Yeah, absolutely. But it's good that he's staying busy, you know.
01:11 And Corrie's looking to try and throw the right hand over the top.
01:14 Gilley, quite tall, little bit of right at times.
01:17 And Corrie's looking to try and time that jab and come over the top with his right hand.
01:26 Nice jab from Sam Gilley.
01:29 Yeah, I think if Gilley can keep Corrie backed up behind the jab.
01:33 And allowing him to really get leverage behind his shots.
01:36 Where I think Corrie looks to me like someone who needs to be coming forward to generate power.
01:40 So if he can, if Gilley can keep him backed up, using that jab effectively.
01:45 Then that'll be good news for him.
01:48 Nice tidy start from the Wolfenstoe, Sam Gilley.
01:55 And he's got history at York Hall.
01:57 Anybody that's seen his fight with Drew Brown is one of the most entertaining fights you're ever going to see.
02:02 Absolutely touring to each other.
02:05 Brown was one of the best rounds you will ever see.
02:08 Gilley knocks Brown down in the ninth.
02:12 It was absolutely sensational. One of the best fights.
02:15 I would encourage anybody that hasn't seen it to get on YouTube and watch it.
02:19 But he can be drawn into a battle, Sam Gilley.
02:22 We won't ever complain about that.
02:25 But against Sean Robinson he boxed really tidily.
02:28 And that was a defense of his English super welterweight title.
02:31 Dropped Robinson as well.
02:34 Just misses with the right hand there.
02:37 He's heavy handed.
02:41 He's got seven stoppages in his 15 wins.
02:43 He's boxing quite well here. Jab's working well.
02:52 So the left hook right hand there.
02:54 Getting out of distance. Getting out of range with his feet.
02:57 Nice feet. Nice footwork from Gilley.
02:59 Corrie just looks almost like a left screw shot come uppercut there and just gets caught on the way in.
03:06 I don't think we're going to be graced with the presence of Olly Murs tonight.
03:16 He's a big fan of Sam Gilley.
03:19 Andy Clark jumped into the crowd last time out to interview him.
03:22 That's a sentence I didn't think I'd ever say.
03:24 A good opener for Gilley.
03:28 A bit busy with the front hand.
03:37 Jab was good in that round for Gilley.
03:42 He's dominated really behind it.
03:47 [Bell ringing]
03:49 Yeah, do you know what I'm saying? You're fast.
04:03 Be smart there. Be smart. Don't force anything.
04:06 Yeah? Touch. Once you're touching it, quick and still.
04:10 If it'll come, and that will land. Yeah, lovely.
04:16 Rod Jullian doing the talk in there.
04:18 Just encouraging Gilley not to force it.
04:21 He's got another five rounds.
04:25 Second of six.
04:30 It's a decent opener from Gilley.
04:34 And it's Corrie just not quite finding his own range and distance.
04:41 [Bell ringing]
04:43 Just gets caught there, though. That was good work from Corrie.
04:51 You've got to be careful, Gilley. When he backs up, he kind of straightens up.
04:54 He does try and use the left shoulder to block and roll the shot,
04:58 but something I've noticed, he does pick up a little bit straight when he goes back.
05:03 He got caught with a couple of shots there, Gilley.
05:10 And he almost couldn't hold back. He was almost desperate.
05:13 Almost a throwback to the amateurs. Desperate to get one back.
05:16 Just cuffs Corrie with a left hook, who was on his way in.
05:20 That is one of the bits of magic of your call.
05:28 Rod Jullian was actually shouting instructions there.
05:31 And because you're so close, you feel like everybody's on top of you.
05:34 He actually answered him, Sam Gilley, there. He just went, "Yeah."
05:37 [Laughs]
05:38 Good work with the left hand from Gilley of the jab.
05:49 Also, there was an uppercut in there as well.
05:52 It's not the first time he's thrown that. How would you describe that, Matt?
05:55 Is it a screw shot or is it an uppercut? Is it a hybrid?
05:58 Yeah, probably a bit of a hybrid. I think he's trying to throw the uppercut,
06:01 but I think he throws it from a little bit too far out.
06:03 So it looks like a screw shot, but I don't think it's either or.
06:07 It's something in the middle. He just needs to maybe shorten it.
06:10 Yeah, looks for it again there, but as you alluded to,
06:20 not quite got his range yet when he's looking to land that shot.
06:24 Has been using the jab quite well, though, does the range finder.
06:27 [Inaudible]
06:28 Yeah, no, I think you're right. I think he's controlling the fight with his left hand.
06:38 The jab, particularly, occasionally the left uppercut screw shot is working as well,
06:44 but the jab, particularly, is the shot that's working well for Gilley.
06:48 Yeah, Corey's got his hands up nice and high, but he hasn't quite found his own range yet.
06:53 He's just at that unfortunate distance where he's getting caught on the end of the jab.
06:58 He just can't quite step in to land his own attack.
07:00 He's got quite a welt under the right eye.
07:03 Yeah, he's getting peppered a little bit with the left hand of Gilley.
07:07 What's he got to do, Matt? Just break that distance and get inside or be out of range?
07:12 Yeah, I was going to say maybe try and time the jab and come over it,
07:14 but I think Gilley's got better timing, so he's just jabbing his head up.
07:19 So I think for Corey, really staying on the outside isn't going to work for him.
07:24 He's going to need to get close here and try and drag Gilley into some kind of close distance fight.
07:29 Well, he's only one winner here.
07:32 Yeah, and it's a knowledgeable crowd at York Hall,
07:34 and they appreciated the work with the left hand of Sam Gilley. Good jab.
07:39 Get a little drink.
07:46 You can't just stand in that range, yeah?
07:49 You stand in that range, you just try to load up with single shots.
07:51 Yeah, I know.
07:52 If you're going to stay in that range, you've got to be feinting and twitching,
07:54 bend your legs a little bit, yeah?
07:56 Yeah.
07:57 Let's do it then. Come on.
07:59 I know I'm trying, but I'm not slugging.
08:03 It's not heavy.
08:05 Yeah, just getting peppered with that jab at long range.
08:10 Corner urging him not to be there, too static.
08:14 Long range, you've got to be moving your head, feinting.
08:17 Just standing in that range like that, this guy's too sharp with the jab.
08:21 Fighters can be very honest, as well.
08:23 He just said, "I just feel sluggish, I just feel heavy."
08:26 He's not got into the fight at all, and that's probably because Gilley hasn't let him.
08:29 It's been a very good start from Sam Gilley in this six round up.
08:35 We start the third of six.
08:38 [unclear dialogue]
08:41 100%.
08:52 Build off that rhythm.
08:54 [cheering]
09:02 That's better.
09:04 [unclear dialogue]
09:07 Corey still just struggling to break that distance.
09:14 And he gets back to pay it with a lovely crisp right hand from Gilley.
09:18 He's enjoying himself. He's really, really settled.
09:21 Yeah, really confident now. Almost a swagger to his work.
09:26 Yeah, that's exactly the word, isn't it? Swagger.
09:31 He's relaxed into it, and he's boxing with loose language style.
09:35 His hands are down by his sides. He's flicking that jab up from his waist, almost.
09:39 [unclear dialogue]
09:47 That's it.
09:50 [cheering]
09:56 [unclear dialogue]
10:00 [unclear dialogue]
10:04 Get that concentration now.
10:06 Interesting to know what's going to happen with Gilley's English title.
10:09 The latest board circulars.
10:12 And him down to face Kingsley Egbenike.
10:15 And the contest to be promoted by Stephen Goodwin.
10:19 Date and venue to be advised.
10:22 And there's an eliminator there as well that's been ordered between Jack McGann and Jeff Saunders.
10:31 You've got to imagine his short-term goal would be trying to get himself into a position to challenge for the British title.
10:38 Not of appreciation there from Corey as Gilley lands a big right hand to the body.
10:48 Don't think it landed completely flush, but it was a good shot nonetheless.
10:55 Corey just looking to get his own right hand off. Doesn't quite land it.
11:00 [unclear dialogue]
11:03 Good shot. See him measuring that up.
11:08 Yeah, and you'd fancy he's got a good chin, Ellis Corey, but he won't be wanting to take too many of those big right hands from Gilley.
11:17 Oh, good shot.
11:21 Yeah, he's up on his feet there.
11:26 Bangs his chest right at the end of the round, but Gilley really made him play with a sharp counter right hand.
11:33 To be fair to Ellis Corey, he took it really well.
11:35 Yeah, measured him lovely there. Nice range, popping him for the jab.
11:39 Just timed him. Beautiful shot. Walking him onto his right hand.
11:42 And the leg buckle.
11:44 See him here. Just timing him.
11:49 Just lay back. Walking him onto a beautiful right hand.
11:52 Legs, dipped. And I think the bell came at a good time there for Ellis Corey.
12:00 As I say, he's walked him onto that lovely shot.
12:03 Brilliant work by the cameraman and the guys in the truck. What an angle that was.
12:09 You see him here. Yeah, yeah.
12:10 Completely robs him. If he senses momentarily, it almost travels all the way down through the body.
12:14 And then the legs are doing something different from the top half.
12:21 And again, not that he needs a confidence boost, because he's already boxed in with a swagger.
12:26 But I think now he knows not only is he sort of boxing his head off that range, but he can hurt him as well.
12:32 Yeah, and if you're in that blue corner, Matt, he's been warned, Ellis Corey, don't stand at that range.
12:38 And he'll do well to recover from that with just 60 seconds.
12:42 You fancy if Gilley can land that right hand again, and he's got it clocked and ready.
12:47 Yeah, well, Corey's just too static. You know, there's no upper body movement. No fanks.
12:52 Stationary target. And, you know, Gilley, who's got good jab, good right hand.
12:57 You can just tee him up and measure him for those shots.
13:00 And he's been in total control, if truth be told, through the first three.
13:06 That's your option there.
13:07 Off the shoulder roll there.
13:10 There.
13:12 Just go for the top there, yeah.
13:17 That shot the wrong way, yeah.
13:20 Yeah, that was the shot that they were calling for. It was almost a carbon copy of what we saw in the last round.
13:27 It's almost obvious, Matt. From us seeing here, he's got it ready.
13:31 And he's just ever so slightly leaning back in his stance and then waiting for that opportunity.
13:36 Yeah, he's just trying to get the distance right and the timing of it.
13:40 He's just puffing, you know, puffing with the jab.
13:42 And then he's looking to try and tuck that right hand, although, you know, Corey more aggressive there.
13:46 Bit of a burst from him, but, you know, again, Gilley back on the jab.
13:53 He's got to get the distance right now.
13:54 Touch the baby girl.
13:58 Stay with the wits.
14:00 Touch the wits now.
14:03 Good use of the shoulder there from Gilley just to deflect the work of Corey.
14:22 He's just got a little bit more confident there, Ellis Corey.
14:25 And full credit to him, because for the first two minutes of this round, considering how badly hurt he was at the end of the last round,
14:31 he's done really well just to compose himself.
14:33 Landed a good right hand of his own as well. Well done, Ellis Corey.
14:36 Looking for that right hand again, just trying to time it, come over the top of the roof with the jab.
14:48 And his right hand over the jab.
14:50 He's patient as well, isn't he, Gilley?
14:52 It really did work a couple of occasions, not just the one that really stunned him as well.
14:57 He's found a home for it nearly every round so far.
15:01 Yeah, I think it's going to become harder for Corey now, because, you know, he's won every round here.
15:05 Good body shot.
15:06 You know, there's a real confidence to his boxing now. He's in a nice rhythm, nice groove.
15:11 So, yeah, these next, these last two rounds are going to be, it's going to feel quite long for Corey.
15:18 [crowd cheering]
15:21 [bell ringing]
15:27 [crowd cheering]
15:31 You've got to get more work done, yeah? You get more success in these rounds when you're stepping up.
15:43 You're doing good stepping back to the centre of the ring.
15:45 That's where he just picks you off, yeah? Yeah?
15:48 You'll be getting caught with good shots.
15:50 No, just get back in there. I'm just straight back, yeah?
15:53 It was probably your best round. You still probably lost the round, but it was your best round.
15:57 You've got more work done.
15:58 Just get right, stay in his face, right?
16:00 Back on the strong jab, yeah? And sit on that right hand.
16:06 And then we come and break him down round the sides, yeah?
16:08 Beautiful.
16:11 Bit nasty at the start of the round.
16:13 The round that Peter Shefferson left there, it's in the corner.
16:16 Like, he almost cast them, put it on Sam Gilly a little bit.
16:21 And maybe that is the best approach.
16:23 Yeah, I think he said to him that he probably still lost the round, but it was the best round so far
16:27 because he was more aggressive, he threw more punches, he got closer.
16:31 If he's standing at distance, you know, he's just, he's just sitting ducking.
16:35 There isn't much head movement either side.
16:37 He's pretty static, head movement wise.
16:39 And, you know, at long distance, that's where Gilly can just measure and time him and tee off on him.
16:44 So, yeah, he's got to try and push Gilly back, get close, and let his own hands go.
16:50 Okay, he missed there, but maybe step to him, you know, step closer, go again, use your feints.
16:58 Yeah, what was it that he said?
16:59 Don't keep stepping back to the centre of the ring, just keep coming forward.
17:02 And maybe that isn't the worst advice.
17:04 Because Gilly has been so accurate and so sharp at range.
17:08 And that's the shot that has landed on more than one occasion.
17:11 That counter right hand doesn't land it on this occasion.
17:14 Good body shot.
17:16 Good shot.
17:17 Don't wait, just go on with it, don't wait.
17:24 That's better.
17:25 That's better, and again.
17:33 The ball on the second post.
17:45 I think it's to watch, pull it straight out like that, Gilly.
17:48 Maybe land the right hand to the body and then roll underneath, go to the side, pull it straight back.
17:52 You've got to be careful, opponents will be trying to time you doing that, come up with a short left hook.
18:11 That's a nod of appreciation from Ellis Corrie, because the left hook to the body from Sam Gilly was a well timed shot.
18:17 Well executed as well.
18:19 And again, I just wonder if he's realised that that left hook is a good shot for him, Sam Gilly.
18:30 And if he keeps throwing it, it will have an effect eventually.
18:33 Yeah, I think he's at a point to find out, Gilly, where he's comfortable.
18:37 He can stand in distance, doesn't need to be in and out with his feet as much, he can stand his ground.
18:42 Uses upper body movement to get out of the way of shots, plants his feet and really dig those body shots in.
18:48 Nice one-two from Gilly.
19:06 Come on, come on, come on, come on.
19:08 That one was on the belt line, but wasn't called low.
19:20 And Corrie, here's the clapper for the end of the round and just becomes a little bit more ambitious, but surely another Sam Gilly round in the bag.
19:31 Here is Isaac Chamberlain, first up on our main show, taking on Frenchman Dylan Bregion.
19:45 That's eight rounds at Cruiserweight.
19:47 And Isaac, well he's had his fair share of bad luck, let's be honest.
19:52 Mikhail Lwal pulled out of a British title fight with some required dental work, I think there was a tooth infection.
20:01 Obviously you can imagine that didn't go down very well at all with Chamberlain.
20:05 Then he was scheduled to stay on the Bournemouth card, and he was there all week and came in at championship weight, only to see his fight cancelled at the last minute.
20:16 Yeah, he's got some good body shots in there, Anguilly.
20:20 I wouldn't be surprised if you see more of that in this round as well, I think he's comfortable now.
20:24 He doesn't need to be in and out of his feet as much, I think he's comfortable with the power, comfortable with the speed and everything.
20:31 Coming from Corrie, I think Gilly might be more aggressive in this round.
20:35 Yeah, it'll be interesting to see just how aggressive Gilly is.
20:39 As you say, just the final three minutes to go.
20:43 He's had Corrie hurt.
20:47 You would guess that he's well in front as well.
20:50 Just wonder if he would like the stoppage, just as a punctuation point on this performance, let's see.
20:56 Ellis Corrie from Darlington, he's done really well to survive that heavy artillery.
21:02 [Crowd noise]
21:31 That's probably been the mark of the Sam Gilly performance.
21:35 Good work with the left hand, the jab has been a real weapon.
21:38 When he's thrown it as a range finder or as a weapon on its own, it's been good.
21:44 And he's worked off it well.
21:46 Yeah, his own defence is a bit good too, you know, getting out of the way of shots, good head movement.
21:51 Even sometimes the right hand can't do wide to the shot, using the shoulder roll to block it, deflect the shot.
21:58 So it's been a solid performance from Gilly.
22:01 Good right hand.
22:04 [Crowd noise]
22:09 And here goes Gilly now, just opening up.
22:11 Oh, another shot, right hand, Corrie takes it really well, just beckons his man on.
22:16 But he can't afford to take too many more of those back to back uppercuts.
22:20 Corrie fires back with a left hook, doesn't land it.
22:23 And this one catches fire.
22:26 Yeah, a bit of showboating there from Gilly.
22:28 Nice left uppercut there, that kind of screw shot.
22:31 Yeah, what a cute little screw shot come uppercut with the left hand.
22:36 Snaps the head back of Ellis Corrie.
22:38 Still got 45 seconds if he wants to try and get it done.
22:42 I mean he doesn't need the stoppage, Gilly, he's won every round and it's been a really good performance from him.
22:53 He'll be happy with his performance, but if he wants to get the stoppage then that would be the icing on the cake.
22:58 Although you feel for Corrie because he has played his part, it's been a decent fight to watch.
23:06 Oh, what a body shot.
23:09 What a body shot from Sam Gilly.
23:11 Absolute bull's-eye, that is Corrie at heart.
23:14 He's in agony, he is not getting up from this.
23:17 This fight's over.
23:21 What a body shot from Sam Gilly.
23:23 Well, we said the icing on the cake would be a finish and he just calls for calm because Ellis Corrie is in absolute agony here in centre ring.
23:34 Yeah, I mean a beautiful body shot.
23:38 I think that's the first time he went straight to the body, don't go, banked to the jab, into his left, bang, found the gap.
23:46 Lovely shot.
23:48 Yeah, as soon as it landed, the noise that it made and the noise that Ellis Corrie made as well, it absolutely snapped him in half.
23:56 Well, he's bravely getting to his feet, Ellis Corrie, I mean.
24:08 You won't see a better body shot than that.
24:13 That was an absolute peach, Matt.
24:17 Yeah, and it just topped off what was a really good performance, very dominant.
24:21 Jab was brilliant, right hand, counter right hand over the top of the jab from...
24:26 Corrie was good.
24:28 You see him here, I think he just gives a feint.
24:30 Oh, left hook.
24:32 Behind the elbow, floating rib area.
24:35 The liver shot as they say.
24:37 And, yeah, that completely took the wind out of Corrie.
24:42 You can see him in pain, rolling around.
24:44 And that just really was the icing on the cake of what was a brilliant, and I would say a career best performance from Sam Gilley.
24:54 Well, if referee Mark Bates had counted to 20, it still wouldn't have been enough.
25:01 Absolutely detonated it.
25:05 And well done, Sam Gilley.
25:10 I know the fighter in you, Matt McFinn, was saying, you know, he doesn't need to stop it, he doesn't need to look for it, but I know what you guys are like.
25:16 You want to get it, and he will be delighted with that.
25:18 Let's get confirmation of the result.
25:20 Big Mo is ready, and so are both our fighters.
25:24 So let's hear the official confirmation.
25:26 Ladies and gentlemen, referee Mark Bates calls a stop to this contest.
25:32 At 2 minutes, 52 seconds of the sixth and final round.
25:37 Declaring your winner by knockout, Sam "Magic" Man Gilley.
25:48 Well, I didn't get a chance to give you a right reply there.
25:51 Yeah, fighters, you talk a good game here, Matt, saying, you know, he doesn't need to get the stoppage, he's well ahead, he's boxed really well, but fighters, you want to get it done if you can.
25:59 Oh, yeah.
