How To Raise Soldier Fly Larvae In Freezing Temperatures

I'm determined to keep my Black Soldier Fly Larvae composting through the freezing winter months in Georgia. I start out this video using a LED lightbulb to produce heat. It is warm enough to keep the larvae from freezing, but not enough to keep them composting. So, I break out the heating pad, bury it in the compost and make it summer again. The heating pad, set to low, runs at about 110 degrees Fahrenheit (44 degrees Celsius) which is close to the top end of the optimal temperature range for BSFL.
