Hilarious moment Ben Foster tells Nani to 'come to Wrexham' after his Soccer Aid appearance

Ben Foster wasted no time in trying to recruit players to sign for Wrexham after his Soccer Aid appearance on Sunday, setting his sights on Portuguese legend Nani.

The former Watford goalkeeper has signed an extension at the newly-promoted Welsh side, having joined on a short-term basis midway through last season, as the club secured promotion back to the Football League.

Foster was keen to bring in more bodies to help his side's cause as they look to establish themselves back in League Two, and turned to the Champions League-winning forward at Old Trafford.

Nani is not the first famous face to be linked with Wrexham, who was also linked with Welsh hero Hal Robson-Kanu and the country's former captain and greatest-ever player Gareth Bale.

The forward refused to rule out Foster's suggestion, with the 36-year-old currently without a club having left A-League side Melbourne Victory at the end of his contract.

'Nani hasn't got a club, everybody,' Foster began the hilarious exchange. 'I think he should come to Wrexham...'

Nani replied: 'You never know', although Foster was unconvinced.

The 40-year-old called his old team-mate from his United days a 'liar', before the pair lifted the Soccer Aid trophy, having beaten England 4-2.

Nani would be comfortably the most decorated player at the club if he did indeed join the Welsh side, enjoying success on both international and club fronts.

With Portugal, he lifted the 2016 European Championship, with his side beating France 1-0 in the final following a strike from Eder.

He was also part of United's 2007-08 side, which won a Premier League-Champions League double, lifting three English top-flight titles, two Carabao Cups, and four Community Shields.

The 36-year-old has also lifted silverware with Sporting and played across the world with the likes of Venezia, Valencia, and Orlando City.

Wrexham may have only just secured a return to the Football League, but Foster is already tipping his team to make it back-to-back successes and reach League One at the first attempt.

'I think we'll do alright, I do,' he told The Fellas podcast.

'That first day of training when I got to see them, I thought 'Ooh, there's no way you're National League'. I genuinely thought they'd do alright in League One, and maybe even in the Championship, they'd hold their own.

'Wrexham last season beat Coventry in the FA Cup, held Sheffield United to a 3-3 draw and they scored a last-minute equalizer, and they only just narrowly lost in the reverse fixture as well. So they know how to play these types of players and they will step up their game when they need to.

'I've already seen a stat that says Wrexham is our favorite to get promoted already. We've just been promoted and are now favorites to go up again. I'd back that as well... I'd back that because they're ballers.'
