Lawyer Chris Kise, an attorney known for his strong ties to Florida Republicans, is expected to assist former President Donald Trump in his defense against federal charges. Trump is facing 37 counts related to the handling and retaining classified documents he took from the White House to his Mar-a-Lago estate. Kise has strong ties with the Republican authorities in Florida and was involved in the 2018 election campaign between Governor Ron DeSantis and Democratic nominee Andrew Gillum. During this campaign, Kise represented Adam Corey, a lobbyist and former friend of Gillum, in a case concerning Gillum's possibly inappropriate trips while serving as the mayor of Tallahassee. Kise's involvement in the case started in August of last year. He has recently become a member of Continental PLLC, a law firm established with the help of Carlos Trujillo, a former state legislator appointed as ambassador to the Organization of American States by the previous administration.
