00:00 for a black eye that's a couple of days old that's kind of your basic black eye. So the
00:05 blood pools and collects in the orbital bone below the eye. And I apologize about my hand
00:12 being in the way, I swear this is only for the first minute or so and then the rest of
00:16 it it's fine. And I'm sorry that my hand looks like a weird alien hand. So I'm just going
00:22 to start by using the purple colour and just kind of dragging that purple across the orbital
00:27 bone kind of where the eye bags would be. And then I'm using a stipple sponge to kind
00:31 of blend it out and then patting the same colour and the same brush on the upper eyelid
00:37 to get a little bit of bruising along the upper eyelid as well. And then in between
00:42 blending it out I'm just kind of darkening and adding more pigment, especially along
00:46 the bottom line, like the bottom of it is where I want the darkest colour and the thickest
00:51 colour to be. So that's pretty simple. I'm just going to bring it a little bit closer
00:58 to his eye and just a little bit more above and then the tear duct, but that's a basic
01:05 look of a black eye. And now to make it a bit more extreme I'm going to age it a little
01:23 bit more as well by adding some of the yellow tone from the bruise wheel in there. And the
01:30 yellow is the colour of the blood coat after a few days. I'm going to blend that yellow
01:35 out with a sponge, just a torn up makeup wedge. And then we go back in with the purple mixed
01:47 with a little bit of the pink colour from the mirror and bruise wheel. I'm going to
01:50 drag that out and along the orbital bone, kind of blending it up slightly and then putting
01:56 it in the inner corner and little dabs of it. Just little sporadic dabs along the upper
02:02 eyelid as well. I'm going to start blending that out with a sponge. I'm going to darken
02:10 that lower line and I was using the blue but I think the blue is a little bit too harsh
02:15 so I kind of go "ugh" and try and blend out the blue with a sponge. It's like, because
02:22 it was quite dark I just really have to blend it out now. Cool and then to kind of fix that
02:32 I'm going to go back over with some of the purple colour, just mostly along the bottom
02:35 where I want it to be darkest and then patting it over the top as well. Just little dabs,
02:44 little broken capillary looks. I'm going to use a stipple sponge as well and put a little
02:52 bit of the bruise colour on that just to get these little broken capillary dots as well.
02:57 Mostly on the outer corner of the eye and on the upper eyelid and then blend it to soften
03:01 it a little bit. And again darkening that bottom line. I put a little bit more on the
03:11 upper eyelid. I'm going to add a bit more yellow as well because I realise that a lot
03:19 of the yellow got blended out. A bit more yellow just on the outer edge below the darkest
03:24 part of the purple. Just using the sponge to kind of soften it all, blend it out a little
03:36 bit. And then again some purple but this time I mixed the purple with a little bit of blue
03:41 to get a darker line. Just going to bring that out. Put a little bit more of the dabs
03:53 of the purple across the outer edge of the corner to get broken capillaries. I decided
03:59 to add some across the nose as well because it was quite an extreme back eye. There would
04:02 likely be a bit of bruising across the nose as well. Just using the brush and then the
04:09 sponge which both have residues of the colours on them. Kind of get a subtle colour variation
04:14 on the nose because that's not the focus. And we're done! And some tips for doing this.
04:34 I'd recommend looking up reference photos and when you type in black eye a lot of the
04:40 photos that come up are makeup photos so they might not be the correct references. You can
04:44 type in contusion instead and that will more likely give you actual medical diagrams of
04:49 black eyes. And also just think about the cause and the age of the bruise. So the first
04:54 day it will be a pinky red colour and then at one to two days old the bruise will take
05:00 on a bluish or purple colour. At six days the bruise starts turning greenish colour
05:05 and then eight to nine days old it starts turning yellow or brown. And I'll include
05:10 some information on the colours of bruising and its progression in the description box.
