Government ministers are working with supermarkets to create a voluntary price cap for basic items of food and drink in an effort to help with the rising cost of living and the rising cost of food. These voluntary price caps would likely to just impact essential foods such as bread and milk. A source from Number 10 Downing Street told a national newspaper the plans are at the “drawing board stage” and won’t involve government-imposed price controls. The scheme will instead encourage supermarkets to introduce voluntary price caps on food staples. But what do bristolians think?
