00:00 Hey guys! So today's video is going to be a prom makeup tutorial 2015.
00:04 I'm so excited to do this video for you guys. I've been wanting to do it for so long,
00:09 but I just haven't really gotten around to it. But now, I was thinking, prom season is
00:13 right around the corner. It's actually even right now for some people, especially in the
00:17 states where school ends earlier. So I decided now would be the perfect time to do a prom
00:22 makeup tutorial.
00:23 And you definitely don't have to follow this to a T. You don't even have to wear makeup
00:26 at all if you don't want. Just take this video as an inspiration or maybe for some tips or
00:31 just to enjoy it. So I hope you guys do enjoy it and let's get started.
00:36 So the very first step I'm going to do is actually use a setting spray. And usually,
00:41 I would use a setting spray just at the end. But for an event like prom, using it before
00:45 and after your makeup is actually going to make it last so much longer. And we really,
00:50 really want that, especially for a night like prom.
00:53 So I'm going to use my Urban Decay All Nighter, which is a really good setting spray. So the
00:58 second thing I'm going to do to prep my skin for foundation is use a primer. This is the
01:02 Smashbox Photo Finish. I'm just going to use a tiny bit of this on the center of my face
01:11 where I have the biggest pores and the most things I want to smooth out. And I'm going
01:21 to put a tiny bit in the lines next to my mouth because I make a lot of expressions
01:29 and stuff tends to crease and look very cakey in there if I don't have a primer. And a little
01:36 bit more between my eyebrows. By the way, my eyebrows are already done. They're the
01:41 only thing I'm doing off camera because, first of all, they take long and I wanted to get
01:45 them out of the way. And also, I find eyebrows are just a very personal thing for everyone.
01:51 So I didn't want to show how you should do your brows because obviously everyone does
01:58 them differently. Obviously everyone does their makeup differently too, but you know
02:02 what I'm saying. So I'm just going to use the rest of the product to go in the other
02:07 areas of my face, but focus it on those areas. For foundation, I'm going to be using one
02:14 of my favorite foundations. This is Dior Star. It's a beautiful foundation for special events.
02:19 This is basically the only thing I use it for because it's so expensive. I don't want
02:23 to waste it, but it's so beautiful. Such a nice foundation. And I'm in the color 010,
02:28 by the way. I just love this foundation so much. I'm going to use a Real Techniques buffing
02:33 brush to really buff that into my skin. I'm literally going to press really hard because
02:41 I really want the foundation to go in my skin and not just sit on top of it. I really want
02:48 it to set really nicely and look really, really buffed in and flawless. So the foundation's
02:54 done. I'm going to now move on to the eyes and then come back to the skin. So to start
02:58 with the eyes, I'm going to also be using a primer. This is Urban Decay Primer Potion.
03:03 And the first thing I'm going to do before putting any eyeshadows on is actually use
03:07 this yellow color from my Kat Von D Shade and Light Contour Palette just to set the
03:14 primer so that it's not sticky. So for eyeshadow, I'm actually going to be using the Jaclyn
03:19 Hill Morphe Brushes Palette. This palette was released twice and sold out both times.
03:25 And I don't know when they're going to be coming back with it or if they even are, but
03:29 I'm pretty sure they will because it's just such a best-selling item and such an amazing
03:33 item created by Jaclyn Hill, my idol. So the first color I'm going to use is this one right
03:38 here. It's an orange color. I'll actually leave the numbers of all these shadows listed
03:43 down below in case you want to buy them because they are sold individually if you don't have
03:47 the palette. So it's like a nice burnt orange/warm brown, but it's more burnt orange. I'm going
03:53 to take it on a Sigma E40 and I'm going to just put that in my crease. So this is going
04:00 to be my transition colors for the other colors that we'll be putting later. And it's going
04:07 to give a really nice warmth to the look because I love warm eyeshadow. So what better to warm
04:13 up a look than straight up orange, right? So next on the same brush, I'm going to be
04:18 taking this color, which is basically a darker, more neutral warm brown. It's not straight
04:26 up orange. I'm going to take that and put it basically following what I just did, but
04:31 a little more precise in to the actual crease. So next I'm going to take a smaller blending
04:43 brush. This is a Sigma E25, so it's a lot smaller and more tapered and precise. And
04:49 I'm going to take this color right here, which is a warm, chocolatey brown color. And I'm
04:55 going to really softly put that on the outer crease and slightly onto the lash line. And
05:06 then I'm going to go back in with my blending brush and just blend those edges because blending
05:15 is so important, guys. Blend until your eyes and hands hurt. A quote from Queen Jaclyn
05:22 Hill. I'm going to take a touch more of that first orange color we used and just put a
05:30 tiny bit more of that through the crease because I just want this to be really warm and I'm
05:36 obsessed with this orange color. I just want to put it all over my face. So for my lip
05:40 color, I'm actually going to be using another eyeshadow that's separate from the palette.
05:44 This is Stila Kitchen. It's such a beautiful champagne color that's so reflective. And
05:50 to make it even more reflective, I'm going to spray a little bit of All Nighter on my
05:54 brush to sort of foil the eyeshadow and make it even more intense. Look at that reflectiveness
06:03 though. Yeah. So I'm going to bring it right up to my crease and then stop when I get there
06:12 and fill in all the blank on my lid. And then take the small blending brush again and just
06:19 soften that edge slightly. So I'm done with the eyes for now. I'm going to move on to
06:25 concealer. This is Maybelline Fit Me, my favorite concealer of life. It's actually running out.
06:31 Let's watch the next clip. What can you do? So I'm just going to put that all underneath
06:39 my eyes to cancel out the darkness and to clean up if we have any fallout or just, you
06:49 know, you need concealer. You need it. And I'm also going to take some through the center
06:53 of my face, down the bridge of my nose, the top lip and my chin to highlight and wherever
07:04 else I may have blemishes. Around my nose, redness. And I'm going to use a Real Techniques
07:11 Expert Face Brush to blend that in. So to set my foundation, I'm going to be using my
07:20 Nars Translucent Crystal Pressed Setting Powder. Ugh, that's a mouthful. It's a really light
07:26 powder and it doesn't actually change the finish much of the foundation. It just kind
07:32 of takes away a little bit of shine, but it just kind of keeps the glow while still setting
07:40 your makeup. I just want to set it a little bit, even though this foundation sets on its
07:44 own, just to make sure it lasts as long as it can. And to set my concealer, I'm going
07:51 to go back with my Shade and Light Palette and use the same yellow shade we used at the
07:55 beginning on my eyes. Back to the eyes, I'm going to use the E25, the smaller blending
08:04 brush again. And I'm going to first take that same Burnt Orange color and use that as the
08:11 first color, kind of like the transition color on top, just to act as the first shade to
08:18 keep that warmth underneath the eyes because I like tying the top and the bottom together.
08:24 And again, even on the lower lash line, don't be afraid to blend. Now I'm taking a smaller
08:31 little shader brush and I'm going to take the second brown color we used, again, doing
08:36 the same thing but a little closer to the eye. And again, I'm going to blend using my
08:42 smaller brush. Or my bigger brush, I should say. So that's it for my lower lash line.
08:51 I'm going to go in now for my top lash line to do the finishing touches. So first I'm
08:56 going to take a liquid liner. This is L'Oreal Infallible Super Slim, which is like my favorite.
09:03 I'm going to do a really thin line, like really thin. Well, I'll try my best to keep it thin
09:09 anyways. On my top lid because we're going to be going in with false lashes. So I want
09:16 to make sure I have a nice line of eyeliner down so that the seam of the lashes can blend
09:22 into something and not look too fake. So now we're going to be going in with lashes. So
09:29 before I do the lashes, I'm going to put some mascara on. This is Maybelline Lash Sensational.
09:34 I love this stuff. It's so good. So the lashes I'm going to be using today are these ones
09:39 by the Sephora collection. These are astonish. They're so pretty and natural. I really, really
09:46 like them and they're really comfortable to wear and light and not too dramatic but they're
09:50 really nice. And I like how they're winged at the edge because you know me. I love to
09:54 wing my eyes out, as you can see. So the first thing you're going to do if you've never applied
09:58 lashes, I'm going to take some glue. This is the Duo Lash Glue. It's like the best lash
10:04 glue apparently. I haven't tried any other ones but it worked well last time. So I'm
10:09 going to take a little bit in a little ball on top and just put it on the seam of the
10:18 lash, like a really thin layer. And I'm going to take the lash in my hand and wait 30 seconds
10:25 approximately for the glue to get tacky and start drying. I'm going to use a tweezer.
10:31 This is just your regular old tweezer. Be careful when putting tweezers near your eyes
10:35 but it's not that scary. Don't worry. Once you get the hang of it, you get to know your
10:41 own eye, you know, so you don't poke yourself. So that should be enough drying. I'm now going
10:47 to take the lash in between my tweezers and I'm going to look down into a mirror and basically
10:53 place it in the middle onto my skin. Don't put it on your lash because you're going to
10:58 rip your eyelashes off. Just put it in the center, place it down in the middle and tuck
11:03 in your corners. Okay, so lashes are done and now I'm going to finally finish off the
11:23 face. So I'm going to take a bronzer. This is the MAC Bronzing Powder in Matte Bronze.
11:29 I love this stuff. It's such an amazing bronzer. It's matte, it's warm, it's perfect. So I'm
11:35 just going to warm up my face with that. Go like on the tops of my cheekbones, kind of
11:42 where I would put my blush but a little more back. This is just giving me color and more
11:53 of a natural look. I'm going to use NARS Luster which is a really pretty peachy, coral-y kind
12:02 of color. More of like a peachy apricot actually. I'm going to put that on the apples of my
12:07 cheeks. And finally for the face I'm going to use a highlighter. This is MAC Soft and
12:13 Gentle. Such a beautiful highlighter. It gives such a nice glow. And with a tiny little brush
12:17 I'm going to take the same highlight just into the inner corners to brighten up my eyes
12:23 a little. Really precisely in there. I don't like too much highlight. And a tiny bit right
12:30 below the brow. And finally of course to finish the look I'm going to use my setting spray
12:36 once again to set everything into place. So that is the completed prom makeup tutorial.
12:45 I hope you guys enjoyed it and it was helpful for you. Maybe you can take a few tips from
12:50 it or some inspiration or some product recommendations or anything like that. So if you enjoyed it
