A polite pug has worked out the best way to get a treat – simply by ringing a bell.

The adorable video shows the patient pooch waiting in anticipation for the treat he has requested by tapping his paw on a bell.

Pangpang the pug has taken the world by storm, amassing over 660k followers across his social media channels.

He has also featured on The Jeremy Vine Show as well as a character in the computer game Double Pug Switch.

He is no stranger of going viral, with his top-performing content being an Instagram Reel hitting 38 million views and a Youtube Short bringing in 45 million views.

His owner, Dan Smith, 37, got Pangpang as a puppy and was inspired to name him after his time in China, with Pangpang meaning Fatfat in Mandarin.

The five-year-old fawn pug lives in southeast London and has mastered numerous other tricks including, high five, pug kiss and even how to balance an object on his head.

Dan said: “I trained Pangpang myself from day one.

“I had very little experience of dog training so it was purely based on forming a strong bond with Pangpang and I found him to be very attentive and determined to learn new skills.

“Despite many people telling me pugs were difficult to train, he learned the majority of his tricks and commands by the time he was two months old, including his popular 'play dead' trick, lie down, turn around, roll over, high five, shake hands, speak and wait.”

He added: “With the press the bell trick, Pangpang learned it first time as he's always super-focused when there's a treat going.

“I taught him this when he appeared in a promotion for Virgin Media as he had to press the remote.

“I love teaching him to do new tricks and commands because it's great for his mental stimulation and is just another excuse to spend more time with him.

“I'm always proud of all the things he can do and constantly on the lookout for new things to teach him.”
