Amid the ongoing deliberations for selecting the next Karnataka Chief Minister after the thumping win of Congress in Karnataka Assembly elections by bagging 135 seats, Congess leader Randeep Singh Surjewala on May 17 said that a decision on the next chief minister will be announced today or tomorrow and a new cabinet will be in place within 72 hours. He also dismissed speculative reports that Siddaramaiah was likely to be named the chief minister once again. “Delibrations are currently underway by party president Mallikarjun Kharge. Whenever Congress makes a decision we will be happy to inform you. I am here to quash multiple rumours. Do not pay attention to the news and rumors being planted by BJP frustrated by decisive defeat in Karnataka. Congress party is committed to implement its agenda and clean, transparent and responsible government. In the next 48-72 hours, we will have a new cabinet in Karnataka,” said Randeep Singh Surjewala.
