Eurovision 2023: Atomic Kitten star and Liverpudlian Natasha Hamilton says the city is buzzing for the contest

After last year’s victory by Kalush Orchestra the ongoing war has deprived Ukraine of the chance to host Eurovision - Instead Liverpool - a city famous for its contribution to popular music will have the honour of running the world’s biggest music contest.

Last year's Eurovision event was watched live by over 160 million people worldwide, providing Liverpool with a global platform to showcase its offerings. With an estimated 100,000 visitors expected to arrive during the finals, Liverpool City Council anticipates that hosting Eurovision 2023 will have a significant impact on the local economy. The direct economic impact of the event is projected to be between £15-£30 million, while the publicity value is estimated to be around £100 million. Furthermore, the city may experience a lasting impact on tourism numbers, with a projected increase of 5% to 15% in the coming years. Overall, hosting Eurovision 2023 could be a significant boost for Liverpool's economy and reputation as a destination for international events.

Atomic Kitten Natasha Hamilton star performed on Sunday at the Eurovision welcome party - she’s closely involved with this year’s event and has also been assisting Just Eat in making their menus understandable to those not familiar with the local dialect.
