Kerala Boat Tragedy: Death Toll Rises To 22 As Houseboat Capsizes In Malappuram; PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi Express Grief

At least 22 people lost their lives after a houseboat they were travelling in capsized near a beach in Malappuram, Kerala. The deceased included seven children. The tragedy took place around 7 pm on May 7 near Tuvalthiram beach in the Tanur area of Malappuram. NDRF personnel are assisting in the rescue operations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief and announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the kin of the deceased. Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, “I appeal to Congress workers to assist authorities in rescue operations.”
