00:00 Hey guys! So today's video is going to be my favorite drugstore/affordable makeup brushes.
00:06 I asked you guys in my help- health.
00:08 I asked you guys in my elf haul if you wanted to see a video like this, and a lot of you guys said yes.
00:13 So that is what I'm doing today.
00:15 I have a lot of affordable brushes that I absolutely love.
00:18 I don't think that you need to go out and spend a bunch of money on brushes.
00:22 Don't get me wrong, there are a couple of high-end brushes that I feel like I can't live without.
00:26 I really don't think you need your entire brush set to be MAC or Sigma or anything really expensive like that.
00:32 Don't get me wrong, I love those brands. I think they're great.
00:35 But there are affordable options at the drugstore that work just as well.
00:39 So like I said before, I do have a lot of them, but I've narrowed them down to my favorite 8 face brushes and my favorite 8 eye brushes.
00:47 And out of all the brushes I'm going to be talking about today, there are only 4 brands in total.
00:52 My favorite cheap brushes, well not cheap as in quality, but cheap as in money.
00:57 My favorite inexpensive brands for makeup brushes are Real Techniques, Elf, Eco Tools, and Morphe brushes.
01:04 I think they are amazing.
01:06 And yeah, let's jump right in.
01:09 So I'm going to start off with the face, and I'm going to go in order as to which you would apply your makeup.
01:13 I think the best foundation brush isn't a brush, it is a sponge.
01:19 And I don't think anything can beat the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Perfector... no.
01:26 Miracle Complexion sponge, I'm not exactly sure what the name of this sponge is, but it is the only sponge Real Techniques sells.
01:32 This is a $6 sponge, you can get it at RealTechniques.com or at selective drugstores.
01:38 This is a great sponge, it is very comparable to the Beauty Blender that is so highly talked about.
01:44 And the Beauty Blender is $20.
01:46 Ever since I bought this, I really don't use my Beauty Blender all that much.
01:49 I don't think they're exact dupes, I'm not going to lie, I think the Beauty Blender is just a little bit better.
01:55 Because I feel like this soaks up a little bit more foundation than that one.
01:59 But for the price, I am not going to repurchase my Beauty Blender.
02:02 I'm going to stick to this.
02:03 I prefer sponges to put on my foundation personally, I just think it gives a more flawless finish.
02:08 And I just recommend this sponge so much for anyone.
02:12 For those of you who don't like to use sponges to put on your foundation, my favorite foundation brush from the drugstore is this one right here.
02:18 This is also from Real Techniques and this is the buffing brush.
02:22 This buffs in my foundation beautifully.
02:24 I use this a lot with my mineral makeup or tinted moisturizers or anything that I feel like using a brush with, this is what I go for.
02:30 This, you can't buy it on its own, it does come in a set.
02:33 Three other brushes besides this, but it is under $20 I believe.
02:37 So for under $20 you do get four brushes and I use all of them, I think they're great.
02:41 I'm actually going to be talking about another one in that set in just a few minutes.
02:45 But I prefer this one over the Expert Face Brush from Real Techniques.
02:49 You can get the Expert Face Brush on its own, you don't need to buy it in a set.
02:52 But I think that this applies foundation a little bit better.
02:55 The other one can leave streak marks on my face and this one doesn't do that.
02:59 This just buffs in the foundation amazingly well.
03:03 For my under eye concealer, this is my Holy Grail brush.
03:07 And it is also from Real Techniques and it is their contour brush.
03:10 This is the other brush I was talking about that comes in the set with this.
03:13 The other two brushes is like a lip brush that I use all the time and then a foundation brush,
03:17 like a traditional flat foundation brush.
03:19 But this is the best brush to blend out concealer underneath your eyes.
03:24 I'll just dab some underneath my eyes and then buff it out with this, blend it in, and it just blends in flawlessly.
03:29 I recommend this so badly if you're having trouble blending your under eye concealer, you can't get it to blend well.
03:35 It's also really amazing for contouring of course.
03:37 It gets right in the hollows of the cheekbones, it's a great contour brush as well.
03:41 So, I love this.
03:43 So I might as well just show you my last favorite Real Techniques brush for the face because, I mean, why not?
03:49 And it is the blush brush.
03:51 I love this brush specifically for bronzer.
03:54 You could absolutely use this for blush.
03:56 I do sometimes when I want like a really like light wash of blush, I just blend it really lightly on my cheeks and it works like that.
04:03 But it is so great for bronzing.
04:05 It's a perfect size to bronze all over your face.
04:07 This is also really good for powder.
04:10 You just dust it in your powder and set your foundation with it.
04:13 It's just an overall great brush.
04:15 The shape of it is what makes it so unique and amazing.
04:18 Okay, so the next brush I want to talk about is from Eco Tools and it is their tapered blush brush.
04:23 This is a new recent discovery of mine and I'm obsessed with it.
04:27 What makes it so special is the shape.
04:30 As you can tell, it kind of looks like a paddle brush but then when you turn it on its side, it gets really thin.
04:35 So it is tapered but then it comes to like a nice point.
04:39 It's like pointy at the top.
04:41 I don't know if you can tell but I love this brush.
04:44 It's a great blush brush.
04:45 You just pat it into your brush on its side and then pack it right on your cheekbones and it applies blush beautifully.
04:52 But I really love this for contouring.
04:54 You just dip it into your contour powder and get right in the hollows of the cheekbones because it comes to that really pointy tip.
05:00 You get a really good chiseled contour with this brush because it's so pointy.
05:04 I've also heard a lot of people love this to dust powder on their face because of its shape.
05:09 It's just overall a really great brush.
05:11 And of course Eco Tools is great because they are environmentally friendly.
05:15 I believe this is like recycled.
05:17 I don't know what material this is.
05:19 I forgot but this is bamboo.
05:20 It's just a really good brand.
05:22 Cruelty free and you know they're eco friendly so that's good.
05:25 And then the last 4 face products that I really love are from e.l.f.
05:28 All these brushes are $3 each so that's great.
05:31 My holy grail e.l.f. brush is my complexion brush.
05:35 I use this all the time.
05:37 I actually used this today to bronze up my face.
05:40 You could contour with it because of its shape.
05:42 It is a tapered brush just like the Eco Tools one as you can see.
05:46 But it's a little bit fluffier.
05:48 So you don't get a super precise contour.
05:50 But it is nice.
05:52 I mean I contoured with it today.
05:53 And it's just a great brush for bronzer.
05:55 It's probably one of my favorite brushes for bronzing my face of all time.
05:59 Out of all the brushes I have and it's $3.
06:01 It just gets right onto my large forehead perfectly.
06:03 And it's just a really nice easy brush.
06:06 My next favorite brush from e.l.f. is the small stipple brush.
06:09 This is a great brush to add highlighter to the face.
06:12 You just dip it into your product and then stipple it on your cheekbones.
06:15 And you get a beautiful highlight.
06:16 What's so amazing about these little brushes is that they're good for cream highlight as well.
06:21 So I just put my cream product on my hand and then swirl the brush in it.
06:25 And then stipple it on my cheeks and you get a perfect application of cream highlight.
06:29 And it's just really great.
06:31 It's very comparable to the Mac one.
06:33 Mac has a small stipple brush exactly like this.
06:35 And honestly I really can't tell the difference.
06:37 It's just a great brush for that.
06:39 I also love using this for cream contouring.
06:42 It just blends out a cream contour so well.
06:45 I don't even know.
06:46 It's just a great, great brush.
06:48 And then the next two brushes I want to talk about are fairly new to me.
06:51 I just recently got them this month.
06:52 But they are so good and I've been using them non-stop.
06:54 The first one is the e.l.f. small tapered brush.
06:56 I used this today to set my under eye concealer.
06:59 I just dip it in my powder and then lightly dab it over my concealer.
07:03 And it just sets the concealer so, so well.
07:06 You could also use this to highlight the cheekbones.
07:08 This is just amazing.
07:09 It's really similar to the Sigma one that everybody loves.
07:11 And it's just a nice, nice brush.
07:14 And then the flawless concealer brush is also a really good one.
07:18 Pat your concealer in and it pats it in flawlessly.
07:21 And this is also a great contour brush.
07:23 If you want a really, really chiseled, like strong contour,
07:27 this is a really, really good one because it's so small.
07:30 You get right in the holes of the cheekbones.
07:31 And it's also great to contour the nose because of its size.
07:34 Just contour your nose and it works really well.
07:37 It's also really good for your eyes.
07:39 You can use this as a crease brush.
07:40 I mean it's really, really large.
07:42 If you want like a fast, neutral crease color,
07:44 you just dip right in and swirl it in your crease and it works that way too.
07:48 Those were my favorite face brushes.
07:50 They're all really, really, really inexpensive.
07:53 By the way, I will link all the brushes down below,
07:55 like all the websites that you can get these brushes at.
07:58 So now moving on to my favorite eye brushes.
08:01 The first one is the ELF Eyeshadow C brush.
08:03 I know that the ELF $1 line has a really good shading brush like this.
08:08 I personally haven't had good experiences with the ELF $1 brush line at all,
08:12 so I definitely recommend all of these Studio Line brushes.
08:15 They're just my favorite.
08:16 They're $3 each and the other ones are $1 each.
08:19 So those are more affordable, but these are still really inexpensive
08:21 and they're the ones that I prefer.
08:22 They don't shed on me and they hold up the best.
08:24 The other ones shed on me a lot.
08:26 I don't like the $1 line.
08:27 This is a great brush to pack the color on the lid.
08:29 It works really well.
08:30 It's just a basic shading brush and it's $3 and I think it is worth it.
08:34 The next three brushes I really love are from EcoTools
08:37 and two of them are double-ended.
08:39 So my next favorite is this one from EcoTools
08:42 and it is their flat eyeliner brush.
08:44 I love this brush to smudge really, really close to my lower lash line.
08:48 I like to get that really precise eyeshadow really, really close to your waterline.
08:53 This is a great brush for that.
08:54 It's flat and it's sharp, but it is really, really soft
08:57 which is why I like it to smudge underneath my lash line.
08:59 I don't like harsh brushes right underneath the lash line
09:03 because I don't feel like they blend well.
09:05 And I don't know, this one is really, really soft
09:07 even though it is a sharp, straight, square-looking brush.
09:11 It is really soft.
09:12 I also really love this little duo set from EcoTools.
09:17 You buy these together.
09:18 They come in a set and they're really good.
09:20 You get a shader brush, a definer brush, a blending brush, and a smudging brush.
09:26 So your definer brush is just your basic angled brush.
09:29 This is a great brush to do your eyebrows with if you're into that
09:33 or to get right underneath the lower lash line just like the other one.
09:36 Then you just have your basic shader brush on the other end.
09:38 This is great for packing on color onto the lid.
09:40 And it is really, really soft, so you can also just kind of dust some color into your crease as well.
09:45 EcoTools brushes are like notorious for being really soft.
09:49 So that's this brush.
09:50 And then this is the other one that's amazing.
09:52 It has a smudger brush on one end, which is so good for smudging out eyeliner.
09:56 What I'll do with this is I'll apply like Maybelline's Master Drama eyeliner
10:00 right here really close to my lashes, and then I'll get this brush and smudge it.
10:04 And it does such a good job of smoking out eyeliner.
10:07 This is a great smudger brush because it's firm, but it's really soft too.
10:10 And then the other side has this blending brush.
10:13 I love this one because it's really different from all the other ones that I'm about to show you
10:16 because it is small.
10:18 It's a really, really small blending brush.
10:20 This is great for people with small eyes
10:22 or if you want to get a really precise color in your crease,
10:25 like a cut crease would be perfect with this brush.
10:28 It's just so good because of its size.
10:30 I love it.
10:31 I definitely recommend this set from EcoTools
10:33 because you get four brushes in one, and it's really inexpensive.
10:36 The only thing is that storing them is a little bit difficult,
10:39 but it's worth it in my opinion.
10:41 The next brush I'm going to talk about is my Holy Grail eyebrow brush,
10:44 and it is this one right here from Royal and Lingnickel.
10:47 I got this at Michael's for $2.
10:49 I don't exactly know what the name of it is,
10:51 but it says 10 Royal and Lingnickel.
10:54 That's all I know.
10:55 But it's just a nice stiff brush.
10:58 You can absolutely use a brush like this for your eyebrows,
11:01 but I prefer one like this because it is a lot harder and a lot stiffer.
11:05 This is strictly for eyebrows for me.
11:07 I can't really use this to smudge underneath my lash line
11:09 because it's so stiff.
11:10 So it's just strictly my eyebrow brush,
11:12 but ever since I bought this, I will not use any other brush on my eyebrows.
11:15 It gives me that really sharp square at the tip of my eyebrows,
11:18 and it's just holy grail.
11:20 So the next three brushes I want to talk about
11:22 are from the same brand, and they're from Morphe Brushes.
11:26 I just recently discovered this brand,
11:28 and when I bought these, I was like, "Wow, these are great."
11:31 So the first one is a fluffy brush, and it is so great.
11:35 This is the MV23.
11:37 This is so similar to the Sigma E40 that everybody loves
11:40 that I really love as well.
11:43 It's just a little bit fluffier,
11:47 but I like that.
11:48 It just buffs the color into your crease so well.
11:51 I used it today to apply my crease shade,
11:54 and it applied it like a freaking dream.
11:56 Also known on the website as the round blender, by the way.
11:59 And I believe this brush is under $6.
12:01 That is insane because the quality--
12:03 I'm so impressed with Morphe Brushes.
12:05 I have a bunch of them, but since I just started recently using them,
12:08 I can't really sit here and tell you they're my favorites,
12:10 but since I bought these, I haven't put them down.
12:14 So this is just a great brush to apply your transition shade.
12:17 It's basically what I use it for,
12:18 and all the colors blend in with it beautifully after I do that.
12:21 So I highly, highly recommend this one.
12:24 Next one from them is this one right here,
12:26 and it is the MB13.
12:28 This one reminds me a lot of the MAC 217 brush.
12:32 The MAC 217 is probably the only high-end brush
12:35 that I say nothing compares to,
12:37 and I will continue to repurchase it if it ever gets damaged.
12:40 But this is really similar in terms of its shape.
12:42 It is tapered, but it's a lot fluffier.
12:44 I love this to pack color on the outer V
12:47 and then bring it into the crease.
12:48 This is an amazing brush for that.
12:50 It's just your typical blending brush that isn't so big and fluffy.
12:53 And then the last brush I want to talk about is the MB25,
12:56 and it is just a round blending brush.
12:59 It blends your concealer underneath your eyes really well.
13:01 Another thing it does is that it kind of erases your mess up.
13:05 I don't know how to explain it.
13:06 Let's say you put something in your crease,
13:08 but you put it on too strong,
13:09 like your crease color is just a little bit too heavy.
13:11 This does a really good job of buffing it away
13:14 because it is a big, fat, round brush,
13:16 but it's a little bit stiff when you touch it.
13:18 So I love to use this when I get a little bit too heavy handed.
13:22 This is just the perfect brush to just go in there and blend that crease color.
13:26 This is a really great blending brush.
13:28 Honestly, with these three brushes from Morphe Brushes,
13:31 you get the perfect blown out crease,
13:34 the perfect blend to your eye shadow with these three brushes.
13:37 Your eyes will be super beautifully blended.
13:39 And it didn't even cost you that much.
13:41 Okay guys, so those were my favorite drugstore/affordable makeup brushes.
13:46 I really hope that this video helped you in some way,
13:49 and maybe you'll be interested in some of these brushes.
13:51 Like I said, I will link everything down below.
13:53 And yeah, I hope this video was helpful more than anything.
13:56 Thank you guys so much for watching.
13:58 Please subscribe if you haven't already,
14:00 and I will see you in my next video.
14:01 Bye.
