Shares in Regional Banks Plunge as PacWest Explores Sale Options
  • last year
Several regional banks suffered sizeable losses on Thursday, with PacWest plunging 50.6 percent after news broke that the bank was exploring strategic options, including a potential sale. Other notable declines included First Horizon ($FHN@US), Western Alliance ($WAL@US), and Zions Bancorp. The SPDR S&P Regional Banking ETF (KRE) was down more than 5 percent. These drops come after the failure of three regional banks since the start of March and concern around the stability of funding and value of assets on the books of many regional banks.
