Government urged to invest in climate proofing city fringes

The peak body for Australia’s Growth Area Councils is calling on the federal government to invest in climate resilience across the country's rapidly growing outer suburbs, in next month's budget. The 'national growth areas alliance' is warning the current urban planning is not sustainable, with a lack of public transport infrastructure leading to a high reliance on cars and a high exposure to grassfires, storms and other natural disasters.
