Chelsea fans fume as Brentford’s Rico Henry dodges red card for ‘headbutt’ on Wesley Fofana

CHELSEA fans were left fuming as Brentford's Rico Henry avoided a red card after appearing to "headbutt" Wesley Fofana.

The Blues were trailing 1-0 at the time of the flashpoint as the Bees successfully frustrated their west London rivals.

Brentford threatened to spring for a second as Henry charged forward.

Raheem Sterling and Fofana managed to halt the wing-back before things became spicy.

Fofana was not happy at the way the Brentford man tried to win the ball back and the two squared up to each other.

Tensions looked close to spilling over before the feuding duo were separated.

Referee Andy Madley booked both but Henry was arguably lucky to escape with just a yellow after appearing to nudge his head in Fofana's direction.

Blues supporters were left mystified that Henry got off so easily.

One said on Twitter: "So Rico Henry can headbutt Wesley Fofana and it’s a yellow for both?"

Another said: "Henry kind of headbutts Fofana, who doesnt go down, VAR doesnt even look at it. If he went down, it may have been red card for Henry."

While another fumed: "That was a clear as day headbutt on Fofana!! Where is the red card for Henry???"

The clash came only minutes before Bryan Mbuemo scored Brentford's second goal to put the game beyond the Blues.

His strike came after Cesar Azpilicueta's own goal in the first-half.

Boos rained down from Stamford Bridge at half-time and at the final whistle after a fifth straight defeat for the London club.

Lampard has lost all of his matches as caretaker manager after he took over from Graham Potter.

Talks with Mauricio Pochettino to be Chelsea's next manager appeared to take a major step forward today.
