General Motors Drop Chevy Bolt, Retool factory for electric pickups

General Motors announced on Tuesday that it's dropping the Chevrolet Bolt after its flagship electric vehicle experienced battery fires and disappointing sales. The Detroit automaker will phase it out by the end of 2023, it will retool the factory to make electric pickup trucks. The company is pivoting to new battery technology to build a new EV generation. GM and Korean battery maker Samsung SDI plan to invest over $3 billion in a US battery cell factory, which would start operations in 2026.
