Microsoft Q3 results exceed analyst expectations, driving share price up 5%

Microsoft's ($MSFT@US) shares rose by 5 percent in extended trading following the release of its fiscal third-quarter results, exceeding analysts' predictions. Microsoft's earnings per share were $2.45 versus the $2.23, while revenue was $52.86 billion, compared to the $51.02 billion expected. The tech giant's Intelligent Cloud business, which includes Azure, Enterprise Services, SQL Server, and Windows Server, saw $22.08 billion in revenue, up 16 percent from the previous year. The More Personal Computing segment, which includes Bing and Windows, generated $13.26 billion in revenue, down 9 percent.
