GLASGOW. Tollcross Park. Toll Cross Park prepares for the 35th International Rose Trials.

Parks staff start the preparations by planting a variety of Rose bushes which should be in full bloom mid June.

What is it?
The International Rose Trials take place each year within Tollcross Park. New rose varieties are planted each year and once established, the roses are regularly inspected by a panel of experts. Over two summers the roses are assessed for their health, beauty of flower, freedom of bloom, and general effect.

Tollcross Park
The beautiful Tollcross Park might be best known for its International Rose Trials and Winter Garden, but it’s packed full of hidden gems as well, making it one of Glasgow’s most popular parks. Located north of the River Clyde and to the east of Glasgow city centre, Tollcross Park covers 91 acres and has been open to the public since 1897. In 2008, it was voted the best park in Scotland. Beyond its best-known attractions, the park also boasts a children’s farm, a nature walk where it’s possible to spot bats, foxes and woodpeckers, a Secret Garden, an orienteering course and a children’s play area.
