This is the adorable moment a dad surprised his son with tickets to see his favourite basketball team.

Jude Stadler, 10, is an Arkansas Razorbacks superfan and received the surprise after getting good grades in school.

Jude was taken completely by surprise while eating a breakfast burrito with his family after believing they would be watching the game on TV as usual.

A video shows dad Daniel Stadler explaining to Jude that because of his good grades and generosity to others, they would make the five-hour journey to the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa, USA.

Daniel said: "Jude got excellent Grades and forfeited gifts for his birthday to give to others in need."

The family, who lives in Joplin, Missouri, made the long journey on March 18 to watch the March Madness NCAA Tournament, where the Arkansas Razorbacks took on Kansas Jayhawks.

Daniel said: "He had a fantastic time. He was featured on the Jumbotron there times and we have pictures of his reaction on the Jumbotron.

"He said it was one of the best nights of his life and called me screaming after they beat Kansas - they were projected to lose and won at the last minute."

The final scoreline saw the Razorbacks beat Kansas 72-71.
