This was a number that I was part of for one of my high school's spring musicals, this one being Chicago: The Musical!
Billy Flynn rewrites the story of Roxie Hart's life to give her a more positive image for when they get interviewed by Mary Sunshine and the rest of the press. Billy fabricates the grounds for Roxie killing Fred Casely by claiming that it was solely in the means of self defence, not that Roxie has to worry about slipping up since Billy is doing most of the talking for her.
