A man celebrating his birthday dressed as GANDALF on a Lord of the Rings pub crawl bumped into - Sir Ian McKellen.

Tolkien super fan Ben Coyles was out marking his 22nd do when he ran into the man who played the part.

Sir Ian plays Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies.

Ben was with a group of friends celebrating his birthday in Bristol when they turned onto Corn Street and saw the man himself.

In disbelief, Ben managed to get a picture with his hero.
