More than 50 tons of drugs cross the Russian border each year. Up to 90 per cent of the world’s opiates are grown in Afghanistan. Back in the early 1990s, drug couriers created the so-called ‘northern route’, which was used for delivering hard drugs from Afghanistan into Europe.
