Israel said it had struck targets belonging to Hamas in southern Lebanon and Gaza. This was amid rising tensions days after Israeli police stormed the al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem.
It came hours after dozens of rockets were fired from Lebanon into Israeli territory.
