Walmart to Add 1,300 EV Charging Stations to Stores by 2030

Walmart ($WMT@US) announced plans on Thursday to add nearly 1,300 electric vehicle charging stations to its U.S. stores by 2030. The retail giant said that it plans to own and operate the charging stations in its national network, with an average of four chargers located at participating stores. Although Walmart did not disclose details on the investments, it said that it's in the process of identifying suppliers. A spokesperson for the company said it hopes to provide “easy access to on-the-go charging” to consumers who have been reluctant to purchase EVs over “concerns they won’t be able to find a charger in a clean, bright and safe location when needed.” Walmart has over 4,700 stores and 600 Sam’s Club locations located within 10 miles of about 90 percent of Americans.
