ॐ त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम् ।
उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान् मृत्योर्मुक्षीय मामृतात् ॥

It is recommended that you chant the Mantra 108 times twice daily, at dawn and dusk. In the Rig Veda, there is a famous chant devoted to Shiva named Mrityunjaya. The Maha Mrityunjaya mantra, also known as the Great Death-Conquering Mantra, is its name. Among the various mantras used for reflection and meditation, it is ranked as the highest.

Story in Makandeya Puran
With the help of the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra and the favour of Lord Shiva, Lord Shiva appeared before his devotee Markandeya (who was originally slated to pass away at the age of sixteen) and stopped his ageing a few days before he was meant to become sixteen. As a result, the God of Death would never be able to kill him. Consequently, this mantra is also known as the Markandeya Mantra. The Mantra should ideally be chanted 108 times, twice daily—once at dawn and once at dusk.
