Baseball fan goes viral after sprinting onto the field to propose to his girlfriend at Dodger Stadium... only to be FLATTENED in a brutal tackle by a security guard

A romantic Los Angeles Dodgers fan got more than he bargained for when he tried to propose to his girlfriend on the field, as he was slammed by a security guard when he got down on one knee.

The incredible moment occurred during the Dodgers' Opening Day clash against the Arizona Diamondbacks, an 8-2 win for the home team - but it'll be remembered for much more than three James Outman runs.

Indeed, the night will go down in history for a moment that occurred away from the plate, when one fan took matters into his own hands.

In various videos filmed from around the park, the fan - Ricardo Juarez - jumps the barriers at Dodger Stadium and runs into the outfield, before turning to face the crowd - and his girlfriend.

In a romantic gesture that has surely now ended in a stadium ban, he then proceeds to get down on one knee to make his proposal.

But before he can get an answer from the stands, a security guard comes charging from out of shot, slamming him to the ground, before he is joined by his colleagues to hold the man down and then drag him away.

It was later revealed that the woman - Ramona Saavedra - did say yes to the bold proposal after the moment quickly went viral on social media with fans going wild for the clip.

'She said yes,' a post on an Instagram story read. 'After getting sacked like that, did she have a choice?'

The pair fully celebrated the day by traveling on a luxury party bus to the game with lots of friends, with Saavedra documenting the big day on her Instagram profile.

The group was seen downing shots en route, dancing in the aisle, and Juarez flexing his muscles. The newly-engaged couple posed for lots of photos ahead of the proposal.

Saavedra filmed her fiancé being escorted off the field by cops and added it to her Instagram story, writing: 'OK the best proposal ever, I love you and yes I'll marry you.'

The post revealed Juarez was taken to jail after breaking onto the baseball field. Saavedra then showed a ticket with the details of which police station her beau was taken to.

In one of the angles of the incident, even the players seemed shocked at the severity of the hit from the security guard, with Diamondbacks' left fielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. even putting his hands on his head in response.

In the game itself, Los Angeles bounced back from an early 2-0 deficit to thrash the Diamondbacks and secure an Opening Day victory with home-field advantage.

Mookie Betts, Freddie Freedman, Will Smith, Miguel Vargas, and Miguel Rojas all scored one run apiece, while center-fielder Outman had three.
