'Violence unacceptable': US condemns recent attack on Indian Embassy and Consulate

The US government has condemned the recent violent incidents outside the Indian Diplomatic facilities. US State Department reiterated that violence is never an acceptable form of protest and criticised the pro-Khalistanis. “The US government condemned the recent violent incidents that have taken place during protests at Indian diplomatic facilities in the US. The Department supports the first amendment rights of protestors to engage in free speech. However, violence or threat of violence unacceptable,” said US Department of State Principal Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel. “Consistent with our Vienna convention obligations, the Department is committed to taking all appropriate steps, including coordination with federal state and local law enforcement authorities to protect the safety and security of these facilities and the diplomatic individuals who work within them as well,” he added. While reacting to the attack on a Washington-based Indian journalist by radical pro-Khalistan protesters, Vedant Patel said, “Attacks against journalists are never acceptable and we condemn any incidents of violence against members of the media just doing their job and any active violence or vandalism against diplomatic facility as well.”
