The Economic Report of the President, an annual publication by the Council of Economic Advisers which explains the President's economic priorities and policies, included a chapter on digital assets in which it outlined issues with cryptocurrency. The report examined the benefits touted by the crypto industry, such as financial inclusion, improving payment systems, and decentralization. The report stated, “crypto assets have brought none of these benefits” and added that "many of them do not have a fundamental value.” The section's conclusion highlighted the potential productive uses of distributed ledger technology for government entities and private companies in the future.
