Bitcoin ATM Maker Shuts Cloud Service Following Security Breach

Bitcoin ATM Manufacturer General Bytes shut down its cloud services after it uncovered a “security vulnerability” In a press release published on March 18th, General Bytes reported that an attacker was able to gain users' hot wallets and obtain sensitive data, including passwords and private keys. While the company confirmed that the hacker was able to move funds from hot wallets, it did not disclose the amount that was taken. However, the company did disclose the information of the 41 wallet addresses that were involved in the attack. According to on-chain data, several transactions have been made into one of the wallets, resulting in an overall balance of 56 BTC, presently valued at over $1.54 million. The Prague-based company has sold over 15,000 Bitcoin ATMs to customers in more than 149 countries.
