AUKUS deal raises questions about nuclear waste disposal

The historic AUKUS deal announced this week will see Australia acquire up to 8 nuclear powered submarines from America and Britain and will cost the nation just short of $400 billion. It will also leave a legacy of nuclear waste which the government has agreed will be disposed of in Australia, which raises many questions about where it will go and whether Australia has the expertise and facilities to deal with it.
