Grizzlies' Dillon Brooks is Fined $35,000 for 'unsportsmanlike conduct' Over Cameraman Collision

Dillon Brooks was fined $35,000 for shoving a sideline cameraperson after chasing a loose ball in Miami on Wednesday, but fans are split over whether or not the Memphis Grizzlies swingman deserved the punishment.

The incident took place with 2:40 left in the second quarter of the Grizzlies' 138-119 loss to the Heat.

Memphis' John Konchar saved the ball from going out along the baseline, only flinging it across the court across from the scorer's table.

Always known for his hustle, Brooks charged over the save the ball himself, only it was ruled out by an official.

Brooks' momentum carried him over the sideline, where he collided with the cameraperson, and appeared to shove the man to the floor with his left arm.

Joe Dumars, the NBA's executive vice president and head of basketball operations, felt the incident deserved a $35,000 fine, but not everyone was convinced.

'Dude was trying to get back into the play, chill out children!' wrote one fan on Twitter. 'We don't need to cancel this dude just because he is trying to compete at a high level.'

Other disagreed.

'They play was well over,' another fan wrote in response. 'Didn't apologize, help him, or do anything. Plus he pushed off on the dude. That was intentional. I'm honestly surprised it's just a fine and not a suspension.'

Brooks is just coming off a suspension, which he received for picking up his 16th technical foul of the season during a loss to the Denver Nuggets on March 3.

The Grizzlies are currently without star point guard Ja Morant, who is currently suspended for conduct detrimental to the league after he was seen flashing a gun at a strip club in a video that went viral on social media.

While not nearly as severe, Brooks' run-in with the cameraman was reminiscent of an incident in 1997 when controversial Chicago Bulls forward Dennis Rodman kicked a camera operator in Minnesota.

The Worm was battling with the Timberwolves' Kevin Garnett for a rebound when he fell over some photographers along the baseline. On his way back up to his feet, Rodman locked eyes with a cameraman, whom he kicked in the groin, eliciting an 11-game suspension from the NBA.

Rodman also paid the cameraman $200,000.
