Recently the Sun let out an absolute roar, in the form of a coronal mass ejection CME. The massive flare was a G2-class CME, which is powerful, but not the most powerful. However, despite this one happening on the far side of the Sun, planet Earth ended up in the path of the ejecta and in the Arctic circle things have been going absolutely nuts.
