Belur Math is the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Mutt and Mission founded by Swami Vivekananda, the chief disciple of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. Belur Mutt is one of the sites in the Kolkata-adjacent region on the west bank of the Hooghly River in the Belur area of Howrah city in the Indian state of West Bengal. The Ramakrishna temple at Belur Math is the main source of the Ramakrishna movement. This temple is an important architectural monument built with a mixture of Hindu, Islamic, Buddhist and Christian architecture.
The main monastery premises spread over 40 acres of land houses the shrines of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda and the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Mission. A museum has also been set up here to showcase the history of the Swami Brahmananda Temple and the Ramakrishna Math and Mission. The Belur Math is a major tourist attraction in India and a sacred pilgrimage for devotees.
Belur Math organizes various health services, education, women's welfare, village development, relief, religious and cultural programs in the interest of workers and backward classes.
Swami Smaranananda (born 1929) is a senior monk of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, and is its 16th president.He joined the organization in 1952, and was elected president on 17 July 2017.
As president, his primary function is as spiritual head of the organization. In that connection, he grants spiritual initiation to spiritual seekers.
So we were initiated by Sri Sri Ramakrishna Param Hansa to this Guru Maharaj. It is said that he is the incarnation of Lord Ramakrishna of this era.
Then we went to Dakshineshwar via Belur Math ferry ghat. Going there and collecting Ganga water we reached an unknown new place. Which I have never seen even when I went to Dakshineshwar. At that place, I had a conversation with a mystic from the past. The third descendant of the founder of Adapith. Name is Adinath Bhattacharjee
