Stranded commuters in Metro Manila avail themselves of the free rides offered by local government units during the first day of the week-long transportation strike nationwide. Jeepney drivers, operators and some other groups staged protests on Monday, March 6, 2023, to show their objection to the government’s plan to phase out traditional jeepneys as part of the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program.
