What were the key messages in Biden’s and Putin’s speeches
  • last year
Today Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden both delivered speeches focusing on the war in Ukraine. Their speeches came just a few hours apart. The narratives ahead of the war's one year mark were worlds apart.
In his annual State of the Nation address Putin lashed out at Ukraine and the West with a lie, accusing them of starting the war.
He also attempted to realign Russia, placing it alongside China and the developing world in a 21st century struggle to push back a decadent and aggressive West.
Hours later and hundreds of miles away in Warsaw, Poland, US President Biden pointed the finger at Putin, accusing him of war atrocities in Ukraine. He also called on the world to stand up to other tyrants.
