Police in Illinois are warning people to be vigilant on the "National Day of Hate" after seeing an increase in "domestic violent extremist messaging" announcing the day as such. The Illinois State Police said that neo-Nazi and anti-Semite groups are encouraging hate actions over the weekend. The public should report any illegal or suspicious activity to local law enforcement. Jewish community leaders in Illinois are partnering with law enforcement ahead of the day, and synagogues across the state have been sending messages out to tell people that hate won't stop them.
The National Day of Hate is rumored to be an event planned by neo-Nazi, anti-Semitic groups to harass and intimidate Jewish communities. Plans circulated online within various extremist groups call for flyer distributions, banner drops, protests, and graffiti. Law enforcement officials across the United States are warning Jewish communities to be vigilant this weekend as police forces increase their patrols of Jewish spaces ahead of a planned Day of Hate scheduled for Saturday targeting those communities. Neo-Nazi, far-right extremist, and white supremacist groups have encouraged their followers to distribute anti-Semitic banners, stickers, flyers, and graffiti on Saturday during what they bill as a “national day of hate".
