Market operator urges government to invest in renewables
  • last year
The National Energy Market operator is warning of reliability risks in the years ahead, as coal-fired plants leave the system before new generation is available. Delays in major projects such as a new gas plant in the New South Wales hunter region, and the snowy 2.0 project, are driving the concerns. The system operator says there is an urgent need for more generation and storage capacity in the national grid.
