Die kapverdische Vitalina Varela, 55 Jahre alt, kommt drei Tage nach der Beerdigung ihres Mannes in Lissabon an. Sie wartete seit 25 Jahren auf ihr Flugticket. In der Dunkelheit eines Viertels, durchzogen von sakralen Schatten – plötzlich das Rot blutiger Betttücher. Vitalina, zu spät gekommen, bleibt nur noch, die Dinge ihres verstorbenen Ehemanns zu regeln.
