  • last year
The Verge reports that according to a third quarter earnings report, 8.2 million combined unit sales of Switch, Switch OLED and Switch Lite occurred between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31, 2022.
Since its release in 2017, total Switch sales are now at 122.55 million.
The console has now surpassed the Game Boy and PlayStation 4 to become the third-bestselling console ever.
The Nintendo DS sits in second place with 154 million reported unit sales.
PlayStation 2 holds the top spot with over 155 million units sold.
Nintendo remains confident that Switch sales will grow in 2023 as production levels have recovered since the global chip shortage.
Toyo Securities analyst Hideki Yasuda predicts that if Nintendo releases special-edition Switch models or a rumored "Switch Pro" model, demand could increase.
"If Nintendo prepares at least two special editions, it can still sell more than 20 million units in the next fiscal year." Hideki Yasuda, Toyo Securities analyst, to 'Bloomberg'
