Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic neuroinflammatory disease that can affect the brain, the optic nerve, and the spinal cord – but what exactly causes it? In this video, Dr. Claire Riley breaks down what causes multiple sclerosis along with common signs and symptoms. While no one knows exactly what causes MS, we do know there are certain triggers that degrade the insulation along the nerve, which really slows things down. Although multiple sclerosis can be hard to diagnose, make sure to talk to your healthcare provider about unique symptoms such as the MS hug, cognitive impairment, and/or dysesthesia.
