Instagram Expands Access to Gifts, , a Tipping Feature.
On Feb. 8, Instagram announced that more
U.S. creators will have access to the
monetization feature which began testing last year.
Gifts allows fans to monetarily support their favorite creators with virtual gifts.
Stars, a virtual currency, is used to purchase the gifts within the Instagram app.
Gifts cost anywhere between
10 to several hundred stars.
45 Stars cost $0.99, 140 Stars are $2.99,
and 300 Stars are $5.99.
Creators share a cut of what they're gifted with Instagram, providing another revenue stream for the platform.
To check if you're eligible to receive Gifts, go to the Professional Dashboard in settings.
From there, toggle on the option if it's available.
For now, Gifts are only available in Reels.
The option to "Send Gift" will
appear by the creator's username.
