Super Bowl Bets Projected to Hit Record $16B
  • last year
Gambling on Super Bowl LVII is projected to hit a record $16 billion, with more than 50 million Americans placing bets on the big game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. This year’s National Football Championship game is also the first to be played in a state with legalized sports betting. Last year, gambling operator BetMGM opened a sports-betting outlet at the grounds of State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, where fans will be able to place bets on their mobile devices. A 2018 Supreme Court ruling allowed sports wagering beyond the state of Nevada, and the industry has rapidly expanded as 36 states and the District of Columbia have legalized sports betting.
