"The morning began with chaos for legal fraternity in Chennai. Many of them were keenly waiting for Supreme Court hearing and at the same time the swearing in of Advocate Victoria Gowri as Madras HC Judge.
A petition was filed before the Supreme Court challenging Victoria Gowri’s appointment as Madras HC Judge. The Petition was listed to be heard by the SC Judges at around 10.30 AM. The Catch? It was the same time Victoria Gowri was to be sworn in as a Madras HC Judge. The Petition however was dismissed by SC and even before that, the swearing in ceremony was complete, thus clearing the path of Victoria Gowri’s elevation as Judge.

But why was there a controversy around her name as HC Judge anyway? What happened today? If at all she has to be removed from her post, what’s the procedure now that she is a judge?
