A street in Saltley has been dubbed one of Britain's most neglected. People living near Crawford Street have compared the road to a 'Compton Ghetto'. The street is riddled with potholes, hundreds of items of rubbish and the remains of burned vehicles.

A burglar from Birmingham who stole from a woman and her disabled husband to fund his drug addiction has been jailed for four and a half years. Patrick Gallon was found wandering into the flats in Erdington before being confronted by the female victim who returned home to discover her purse was missing.

A Birmingham cafe owner found a pristine necklace bearing the intials of Henry VIII and Katherine of Aragon while metal detecting in a Warwickshire field. The heart shaped pendant is attached to a chain of 75 links, and made of 300 grams of 24 carat gold. THe pendant has been proved genuine.
