A cold snap in Texas has left at least six people dead and 340,000 without power while thousands of flights were cancelled as runways turned into skating rinks.

The wintry conditions have left much of the state dealing with the fallout of the unusually low temperatures.

Thousands have been left without power and at least 2,300 flights were grounded causing travel chaos.

Footage shows the extent of the cold weather with one homeowner documenting the amount of icicles on their balcony in the neighbourhood of Round Rock.

The bad weather has resulted in at least six people dying and 340,000 without power and the National Weather Service has predicted that the cold snap will last until Thursday.
